The Finnish jumper Harri Olli has graced the covers of newspapers yet again - and, once more, there is nothing graceful about these reports. Olli had a run-in with the police, as he was charging at a speed of 140 km/h on a road with an 80 km/h speed limit. There was also 0.0067% alcohol on his breath.
The police is still handling the case, and it yet remains to be seen, with what charges Olli will be faced. For now, the Finn has said goodbye to his driver's license. It has already been said that the Finnish Skiing Federation (Suomen Hiihtoliitto) will not be sanctioning Olli. 'We want to help him, not punish him,' says Jari Piirainen, the director of finances in the SHL. 'Naturally, we can't accept such behavior, but I do believe that this incident will teach him to take responsibility for his actions.'
'Harri can continue his preparations for the next season and concentrate on what he's really good at doing,' continues Piirainen. Pentti Kokkonen, the second coach of the Finnish representation, agrees: 'We can only view Harri as a ski jumper, and he certainly qualifies as a representative when it comes to jumping.'
